Yesterday, crowds gathered at the National Mall, excited to see the final flight of Discovery before she made her way to the National Air and Space Museum. It was a spectacular, once-in-a-lifetime sight that everyone enjoyed.
Parents and grandparents remembered the days when a trip to the moon was unfathomable, and children looked eagerly at the sky, imagining what it would be like to be in that shuttle.
We were fortunate enough to be able to view the enormous shuttle here at Cherry Hill Park! Here is a picture that a guest took from the ground:
If you have not been, I highly recommend a visit to the Air and Space Museum. The exhibits are spectacular and you’ll be able to see Discovery up close!
It was an early but successful Cherry Blossom season. They were spectacular as usual and lasted quite a while despite the early arrival of spring.
Even though the Tidal Basin trees are done, the related Kwanzan Cherry Tree is just about to bloom. Cherry Hill Park has a number of those as well as the Yeoshino Cherry and we will post some pictures as they come out next week.
Recycling is a big part of our operation. All guests need to do to participate is drop recyclable materials in the blue bins located at all trash stations. Thanks to our guests, we collected fifteen 50 gallon bags of recycling material every day last summer!
In 2010, Cherry Hill Park won the campground industry’s “PLAN-IT-GREEN” award for our efforts in environmentally sound practices. Whether it is energy efficient lighting or water reduction, many of these practices not only save resources, but they also save us money over time.
Recently, owner Mike Gurevich was interviewed by Evanne Schmarder regarding the Green practices at Cherry Hill Park. The video was made with campground operators in mind, but the applications apply everywhere. If you are interested, here is a link to that interview.
Recent predictions show that the peak week for cherry blossom blooms will begin on March 24 and continue through March 31. The festivities begin on March 25, but there is sure to be excitement throughout the month of April as well. You don’t want to miss out on the spactacular sight! Unfortunately, all available tickets for the Opening Ceremony have been reserved, but there are five more weeks of activities to attend, like the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade.
Hello everyone. Keep in mind that even though it’s still winter, spring is quickly approaching! And that of course means the Cherry Blossoms will be blooming. Starting March 20 through April 27, DC will be a spectacular sight. Stop by and visit our nation’s capital either to celebrate the Cherry Blossom festival, or to walk around the Tidal Basin at your own leisurely pace. We look forward to seeing you there!
